What Is SEO And How Can You Use It For Your Private Practice Website?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation, which is practice of increasing the number of visitors to a website by improving the sites content and keywords to help it rank in the algorithm of search engines such as Google or Bling or Yahoo.
Research shows that websites on the first page of Google receive almost 95% of the traffic, that’s a massive percentage that needs to be high on your marketing agender.
Google (and Bing, Yahoo) score their search results largely based upon relevancy and authority of pages it has crawled, the more pages the better, you can increase the pages by writing blogs constantly so search engines crawl your site and find new content.
How can I rank my website?
Here are 3 tips that you can do today that can help you get started with to help you rank higher on search engines.
1. Add the Keyword in your H1.
The title of your page is called the H1 tag, make sure that this is filled in with the appropriate keyword, I see too often the term, ‘Welcome To My Website’ This isn’t going to rank you for your specialist subject. So… for example if you were a knee Surgeon in London you would want to say something along the lines of:
‘London Knee Surgeons and Knee Injury Specialists’
2. Drop Keyword in first 100 words of the page.
Dropping the keyword in the first 100 words each page is going to tell Search Engines what you are trying to rank for. Try not to over do it and if you are struggling you can get creative with a copywriter who will help you with this.
3. Post Longer Content
According to ‘Quick Sprout’, blog posts longer than 1500 words receive 68% more tweets and 22% more Facebook likes. They increase engemanet and this all adds up when Search engines are crawling your site.I hope this has helped you to understand what SEO is and how you can make some changes now to your website that will rank you higher in the search engines.
