As a daughter to medical parents, I spent many a day circulating in the medical field. Be it at an ISMICS conference abroad or some ‘medic do’. Although I knew medicine was never going to be my career choice, I have always admired and empathised with the roles that come with being a doctor, be it privately or in the NHS.

I started out in the financial industry 15 years ago with the same motto I have now – to provide the best advice to help my clients achieve their goals and look after them for the journey.

I recognised weaknesses in my industry – areas where a client had not received great advice and I focussed on ensuring that this was changed. In doing so, I became a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society, the highest qualification a financial adviser can hold, and an affiliate of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. In 2015, I received WATC’s Rising Star award for Investment Manager of the Year which recognises individuals who are seen as having the potential to become a future leader in their industry and who strive for results.

I have a niche client base of medical professionals and I recognise that doctors and surgeons are under immense time and resource pressure. With little time to concentrate on financial planning but, with the ever-more complex rules around pensions and tax, they can find themselves facing unexpectedly large tax bills on their income and pension.

As a retirement planning specialist, I have a thorough understanding of the pension rules and of the different pension schemes, including the NHS pension, auto-enrolment, and private pension planning. In addition, as an IHT specialist, I can incorporate this retirement advice with cash flow planning, sale of the business, and inheritance tax planning.

Through careful, smart, savvy planning, I guide clients through the maze of rules and regulations and help them plan effectively for their future, investing in a safe, controlled manner to ensure that, ultimately, they achieve their financial plans and are not hit by an unexpected income or inheritance tax bill.

Outside work, my principal interest is sports and my free time is spent doing as much of the following as possible; water-skiing, boxing, windsurfing, open water swimming, triathlons, tennis and horse-riding. Having recently rowed the Mediterranean, the items on my current ‘to do list’ are trekking to the North Pole and rowing the Atlantic.
